Snarfi knew only slavery from the time she was hatched. She did not
adapt well to it, having a feisty personality, always being beaten for
being upity. Her masters recognized this as being the blood of the
dragon that is in some of her race, and attempted to train her at being
a sorcerer. However before she learned much beyond the ability to
decipher the arcane writings and amplify her voice, she came across an
old tome that mentioned a forgotten and imprisoned or possibly dead
being of primal chaos. She sympathized with his plight, and wished the
both of them could be free - out loud. She then heard a voice croak
at her "As you have pledged yourself to me, you will be my champion.
Take my power and free us both!" Multi-colored flames erupted from
all over her body. Instead of casting just light, they cast both light
and darkness from her. She did used it to free herself throwing bolts
of raw magical chaos and using her limitless magic to power her voice
and break her bonds, and free all the other slaves she could get to.
She escaped in the ensuing chaos stealing as many of the magical
writing she could carry. She now seeks to find more about this being
and where it is imprisoned, and works always to free those enslaved,
imprisoned, or oppressed she comes across.

Snarfi is resentful of authority, not taking well to orders, sometimes
going against them just to rebel. Any kind of imprisonment or
subservience she finds worse than the prospect of death, and hates
seeing it applied to others as well. Otherwise she is much like
typical Kobolds being cowardly and afraid of larger or more powerful
beings, and fears being alone, but her hatred of oppression often
overcomes these traits. Because of this she prefers the company of the
smaller demi-humans, but realizes the use of having the larger ones
around. Her main goal is to eliminate slavery, with a secondary goal
of freeing the unknown being that gave her her powers.

Snarfi is somewhat vain and polishes her scales regularly, as such she
is a gleaming bright green, shading to bronze near the base of her
scales, and is easy to pick out of a crowd, even of kobolds. She'll
often say she's more bronze dragon than kobold to alleviate fears. As
a reptile, she is indistinguishable from a male of her race, except to
other Kobolds, and makes no little to no effort to correct those of
other races who mistake her gender. She has red slitted eyes. She is
typically found riding or with her faithful Saint Bernard Shpot. She
cares more for her companion than any sentient she's met so far, and
would rather sleep in a barn with him than the fanciest room. She also
uses Shpot to break the ice and overcome prejudice against her from
demi-humans, and as she'll often hear from people, "Well the dog
likes her well enough, she must be o.k." She'll often get laughs
or attention from people for just from seeing the sight of a lizard
riding a dog like a little noble. She enjoys the attention, and again
uses it to get in good with people. She also has a very commanding
voice for a small reptile, and most notably when she wishes the
eldritch magic springs from her claws in a multicolored chaos of firey
light and shadow.

I look forward to them posting the game to the newsgroup. Think of the
commentary we can make on both the players and the DM!

We already decided to _not_ hold the game on the newsgroup. Only the
game "setup" is being held on the newsgroup. The game itself will be
held on RPGNet.

And what is your great contribution to the newsgroup, Mister Dickey Bird?

Filter for "[Campaign]", not "Campaign".

Firstly, we're not going to be running the campaign in the newsgroup.
Just the setup.

Secondly, this was discussed at length in a fairly recent (and still
semi-active) thread. I asked people what they thought about a campaign
being run here. The majority was against it. Some suggested that we
should have the "setup" here, and the campaign itself elsewhere (with
occasional "summary" posts here). Nobody was against that, so that's
what we're doing.

If you want to influence what happens in this newsgroup, you might want
to consider posting in the relevant discussion threads next time. I
specifically asked everyone for their opinions. That would have been
your cue.

Yeah, because nobody would ever post an actual
*on* *topic* post to this newsgroup that has the word
'campaign' in the subject header. Maybe if they'd decided
to use a less common, more appropriate label (like 'retards
at play').

Running a campaign in a newsgroup is like running
a campaign in a restaurant: extremely inconsiderate of the
vast majority of the people there.

None that would be any more on-topic than this one, IMO.

Note that the actual running of the campaign on the newsgroup has
already been nixed.

During the conversation over that issue, nobody expressed any issues
with detailing any of the initial setup or post-session summaries
here. In fact, many expressed interest in it, even while protesting
the running of the campaign here.

Or, you known, "[campain]". It is a shame that google ignores the
brackets that it can't auto-remove, but proper newsreaders should manage.

BTW, it's not too hard to kill each thread as it shows up, even if
you can't set a filter. It's one keypress in Thunderbird, 'k'.

It's not being run here, it's being set up here, and it's hardly
the first time people have showed PCs in the making on this group. But
thanks for your helpful contribution, Mr Harris. 8|
