The board is MSI 745 Ultra with cpu - Athlon XP 2000 with Coolermaster DP5-7H53F heat sink and fan assembly - One Year Warranty On the Kit!

For $175.00 including shipping in pricewatch.
What do you think? Is the board good?

I am not an overclocker. All what I want is a cheap system that allows me to upgrade processor and/or ram in the future.

Most importantly:
1-Will it handle 333 RAM (PC2700) without issues?
2-Is the board REALLY stable?
3-Is the heat sink adequate? If not what do you recommend?
4-Can I reuse the SAME mobo and if I upgraded to XP 2600+ or XP2400+ in the future? What about the heat sink? Will I re-use it?
5-What experiences you/firends had with it?

Your help is much appreciated..

Cheers...

1-yes, but no big gain over Pc-266
2-yes
3-yes, not for overclocking
4-yes, maybe, might not have enough cooling performance
5-dont know, just from hearsay

Soon enough, Intel will make the i845s...imagine dual channel Sdram...*shudder*

1- yes, assuming the PC2700 ram is of decent quality. (sambsung, corsair, crucial et al)
2- its as stable as most others of the kt333 line.
3- HSF is fine.
4- possibly, most likely, allthough the cpu may run a couple of C hotter. but so long as it doesnt lock up, its fine.
5- dunno

Its a good setup, however for a few extra dollars you can get an Abit nforce nv7-133r with the same chip which will outperform it.

It's not what they tell you, its what they don't tell you!
Edited by ncogneto on 09/28/02 08:47 AM.

It sounds like a great settup.
