I would get the Philips Acoustic Edge ($55 at pcstop.com) instead of the audigy. And which Altec Lansing 4.1 speakers are you getting:
Altec Lansing 4100 4.1 Speaker System
-OR-
Altec Lansing 641 4.1 5 Piece Speaker System
-OR-
Altec Lansing AVS500W Multimedia 5 Piece Speaker System
-OR-
some other altec lansing 4.1 speaker system i'm not aware of

I really like your system but:

viewsonic 19" crt monitor (non-flat)
I recommend you to buy a flat one (A90f or E90f are the same) if you can. The difference is VERY noticeable.

If you plan on playing any games or don't want headaches with dead batteries don't get wireless. Theres some lag with the wireless mice out there.

"it is alec lansing avs500w multimedia 5 speaker system"

If you're going to spend $50-$60 for a sound card, as opposed to onboard audio, ya might as well get a powerful speaker system to hook up to it. Speakers don't have to be replaced often, unlike processors and such. So, it is a good Idea to put less emphasis on price in this area. Get a good speaker system and keep it for a long time. I recommend the Klipsch 4.1 speakers ($239 at newEgg.com, no shipping cost). These speakers are pure bliss!!!

"it supports v.92. how useful is that?"

Three features are noteworthy with V.92:
1. Quick Connect - modem handshake (event that occurs when that irratating sound comes from your modem) is ~2X faster for most calls.
2. Modem-on-hold - Many households use the same phone line for both voice calls and data (Internet), so when the user is browsing the Internet, an incoming call cannot get through. Modem-on-Hold allows you to receive an incoming call and stay connected to the Internet (Call-Waiting service from your phone company is all that is required). It also works in reverse; you can initiate a voice call while connected and keep the modem connection.
3. PCM Upstream - reduces upload times for large files and email attachments.
