sounds like crap too me.
They just want you to buy another board. and why wouldnt they... its their main busness afterall!
many KT333 boards support 166fsb, but only unofficially. overclockers have been running their CPU's at 166fsb and beyond on such boards quite well (depends on brand though)
the only problem i can forsee is that a KT333 wont naturally "detect" that the cpu's stock bus speed is 166 (thus requiring a manual change) and the cpu wont be detected as a XP2800+.
