If its an AMD Duron, Athlon, or Athlon XP than its most likely dead.....try resetting ur CMOS just to make sure....if that doesnt work consider it dead......

Warranty...well did u buy it OEM or Retail ?

That CPU is probably dead. Take the chip out and sniff the core; if you smell burnt silicon you know for sure that the cpu is dead; I am very familiar with the stench of dead cpu as I killed my athlon2200+ the other month when the cpu-shim didn't fit correctly and caused a cpu burnout 3 seconds after i turned it on for the first time.

boy, that sucks. (not to rub it in your face) yes, it is ok!
i just pointed a window fan on the side of the case until it cooled things off. I turned it on and it was fine! Yes! thank god, and fyi: I got it from newegg, not oem.

Who made the CPU?

You are limited to what your mind can perceive.
