I have an interest in cpu architecture and was wondering: what sort of degrees would one need to work in the r&d department of a cpu manufacturer?

If you want to be in R&D of cpu manufacturers, it's good to either be already working for the company (i assume u're not), or else have a masters and/or PhD in EE, CS, or CE (EE and CE being the more preferred).
