Does it seem to everyone that Anand's forums are much more active than Tom's? I understand Tom's site probabaly has more visitors, but it seems like a lot more people are participating in discussions over at Anand's forums (you can easily tell by the number of new posts and replies on threads).
Both Tom's and Anand's forums have similar layout designs, but Anand's existing forums have been around for much longer time. I personally love those colorful user icons on Anand's forums, they really make the place alive, and Anand's forums have a more of a neat appearance...On the contrary Tom's community has the black/white/yellow color scheme which gives a dull feeling, maybe that's the reason why more people visit Anand's forums? Also Tom's boards are a little confusing for the new comers, buttons like "post new topic", "reply" can be hard to recognize for some folks, I think most people woulda appreciated it more if they just used words instead of icons.
I think you were right about one reason there are more people on the Anand forums, and that is that it has been around a lot longer. From what I have read, the THG forums are relatively new(don't know exactly how new). Anyway, I don't know about how other people like those little faces and insignias, personally, the content of the forum is more important, but that's just me.(no offense intened if you are on those forums and have a particular pride in your choice of character) Maybe those things are in the works, or were never planned. Look out, for this thread may be moved to the "other" forum. Or maybe not.
I'm not saying I drink beer all the time, but beer isn't just for breakfast anymore.
This is the longest tiem I have participated in a forum for, after a while I have found them to be stale and boring, but not this one, this is a place where you can post and get a good answer,Its a place where you can post and have a joke and a laugh at your or others expense, I joke and kid around with bubba and Griz and Fredi, but I would never post incorrect or misleading info, I would never post and tell someone something that could damage thier system, We are all here because we like being here,
When you find the answers you get are not satisfactory to you then its time to move on, and I have not found that to be the case here.
sometimes I feel like there are way the heck too many people participating in THIS one -- I didn't check THG over the weekend and on Monday, this Tuesday I had 450+ new messages, in CPU section alone -- and I frequent about half the sections... that's a LOT of catching up to do... maybe not ALL of my questions were answered, but the majority of them were, and I think THG forums are large enough (if not even a wee bit too large)... my 2 cents
I'm new to the place but I have to say that I really like this forum. No one is screaming "RTFM, newbie" (maybe since manuals so rarely answer the questions here). A very helpful lot with a great attitude. Sometimes less is more.
I remember the days of 2000 members, and 50-100 new threads in the CPU section after the week-end. Just wondering, which of you regular members started first?

I wanted to delete the pushing towards member mail...after reading it I thought it sounded a little dubious...but then netscape crashed...(don't tell Fugger or Meltdown!).
Guess I'll just leave it...
I remember the day I saw the Comments post that there was a new Toms Hardware Community!! I immediately went tand signed up and have been here every since. I signed up the first day the forums were open to the public 11/11/00.
If at first you don't succede, skydiving isn't for you.
