If using ddr ram which is better bang for your buck. Mainly for gaming. No O.C. maybe

The P4 2.4 will have roughly the same DDR performance as the XP 2400+, a tad more than the 2200+. But you'll have to use DDR333 (PC2700) to get it.

And a XP2200+ is $140 or so online and a P4 2.4B is more like $190.

...And all the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put my computer back together again...

I think the p4 is best for you if you got great graphics card.
