Any that has the Northwood core. The Northwood core is identified by it's 512k cache, the previous core had 256k cache.

ok thanx alot for help. could you also recomend a GOOD motherboard for overclocking and so. :) ?

For a budget, the albatron px845pev or gigabyte 8sg667 (version 2 only with voltage adjustments). Both around $100, the gigabyte board may be hard to find.

8SG667 looks like a winner for clock speeds of roughly 166MHz and below. I don't know how far beyond that it goes.

Will this motherboard be ok?(Gigabyte GA-SG667 SIS648) or cant this mboard achive the speeds of 2.4ghz or something that i expect from my intel p4 1600 northwood?
thanx in advance!

Everything I've seen indicates the board will support 166MHz bus speeds (QDR667). That takes a 1.6a to 2.66GHz. But you'll never get memory to go that fast, you'll have to set your memory multiplier at a slower rate. At 150MHz FSB (2400MHz CPU), you can run your DDR400 at full speed using the 3:4 CPU:RAM bus ratios.

Sometime this month SiS 655 boards should hit the market with even better memory bandwidth using slower memory! The 655 chipset supports DDR in Dual Channel mode, so that two PC2700 modules (DDR333, 2700MB/s) have the bandwidth of 5400MB/s. You can see where this could help, considering your desired 150MHz FSB gives the P4 a bandwidth of 4800MB/s, much higher than the fastest PC3200 chips.

Boards with a similar Intel chipset will be available next month.
