I am considering upgrading my single Xeon PII 450 to single or dual PIII 550 Xeons in an IBM Intellistation Z-Pro with 1GB Ram. I want to speed up working with Adobe Premier for importing DV and editing DV. The processors are relatively cheap ($150 each) and I need to decide if this will give me more bang for the buck than adding another gig of RAM.

Any info appreciated, thanks,

Umm, I disagree. With $300 (for dual p3 550's) you could easily get a new CPU, mobo and RAM, keeping your older components. I reckon with that you could get an axp 1600+ and a decent mobo. It would be much better bang for buck IMO.

My sig's faster than yours, and it overclocks better too....

Totally agree since single processor will be used more than dualie, and overall give better results. Still go ahead and add a gig of RAM. If u get DDR, it has more bandwith, and also, what hard drives are you using?
