Tough call, do you plan on overclocking? If you do, the P4 take you further, but if not the 2600+ will probably give you a slight edge in most games (unless your going to go all the way with the P4 and run with RDRAM).
I think either one would make a nice gaming rig.. In fact they are probably both overkill unless you have a 22" monitor and you can spot the difference between 200 and 220 FPS. If you want to order now, there is only one option: the P4. If you can wait, you could save a few bucks by going for the AMD. Depending on what game, the AMD might also be ever-so-slightly faster

Depending on what sort of games you play one or the other may be better. The previous page of that review also shows some other gaming benchmarks for P4 optimized games (Nascar and Commanche).
I dont think you can go very wrong either way...
Afterthought: the benches are NOT nforce2 bences, so if you can wait for the nForce2, the AXP would perform even better. But then again, I guess you could also wait for Granite Bay,etc,etc,..

I think that becuase of the release of the 2.8 and 2.6 the P4 2.53 might actually be slightly cheaper than the AXP 2600+, but i think the AXP might be slightly better. However I dont know how much difference the N-Force2 will make, I know it has twice the memory bandwidth but the AXP is still limited by the 133Mhz FSB (166Mhz with the 2700+). If I were you I would wait for the 2700+ with the increased FSB. And also the NV3x is going to be great apparently.
