Hi everyone im having a problem with my computer. IE crashes randomly and I tried playing bf1942 muliplayer and i've had 3 different experieces with it. First time it crashed to the desktop with no error msg. Second time it hangs for 30 seconds then resumes playing. Third time it hangs for a minute or so and then crashes to the desktop.

My setup:

Abit IT7 Max2 mobo
P4 2.4B C1 @ 2.8ghz (155 fsb) default vcore
Corsair 512mb pc3500 plat @ 412mhz (2.8vcore)
8500 Pro (6166 drivers)
2x 80gig SE WD hdd in raid 0 (16k stripsize/cluster size)
Windows XP Pro
300 watt Antec SmartPower psu
CPU at idle is around 40 to 42c

One time IE crashed over and over. After opening it trying to check email online it would crash. Then it would crash just going to different sites then crash upon execution. I don't understand whats going on. Is my memory bad? Did i oc something too much? Please help. Thanks

You are severely overclocking your system. regardless of what you may have heard, there ARE NO GUARANTEES your system will be stable when overclocked. Set everything at default speed, and see if your system is still unstable. If its not, you know what caused it (most likely your memory that cant do 412 Mhz).

Yes you're right, however i already figured it out :\. I ran memtest86 and received tons of errors at 155 fsb, so i lowered it to 154, less errors but still a lot. I lowered it further to 153 and only received two errors and now finally 0 errors at 152 fsb. I understand i was overclocking but this memory is rated to achieve 434mhz (217mhz) and it is super stable only at 404mhz for me! Is it the memory or another component perhaps?

crashing to desktop is vcore, bring it up from default to 1.55v and your memory is safe at 2.9v or 3.0v

You are limited to what your mind can perceive.

Yeap it looks like Vcore, but I don't think that a 300W PSU is going to give enough power to that sytem.....

I'm on Win98SE.

Is that memory supposed to run at stock voltage or comething a bit higher?

You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!

Ok so i upped cpu vcore to around 6 and its stable at 155 fsb now with the memory at 412mhz at 2.8vcore.

and there is nothing wrong with my psu, gives enough power. Looks very stable now.
