Setting up a new computer as base station on existing netw..

Assuming the new computer will be wired to the base station, you really
don't need to do anything differently. You can still administer the base
station via the IP in your browser. None of the other machines would need
to be changed at all, since they're already "connected." You aren't really
"controlling" the base station from any computer (which you can do from any
of them), since it is already programmed and running on its own. It doesn't
matter of 12 computers are active or none, it still does its job.

Should be a piece of cake for you. The base station is already set up and
functional, so all you're doing is adding in the new computer. When you add
the Ethernet cable, you should be connected. None of the other computers
need to do anything, although on the new computer you may need to enable
File and Printer Sharing on it, if you're going to do so with the rest of
the Local Area Network (LAN).

Incorrect. Unless it is wireless, then you don't need to be connected. A
desktop with nothing but an Ethernet card must connect to the base
station/router.
