Adobe Reader for Palm

Last response: in Cell Phones & Smartphones

I have just purchased my first Palm, it's a T5, everything I have loaded
so far is OK except I'm having problems with Adobe Reader for Palm. When
I try to install on my desktop the InstallShield gets to 100% then hangs
for about a minute. I does then try to install but then I get at notice
saying cannot locate HSLOG20.dll and TABLE21.dll
I do eventualy get an Adobe Reader icon on my desktop but when I click
on it it says " Palm OS needs administrative or power user privileges"
I have installed many programs etc but have never had this particular
problem. Has anybody else had this problem or can anybody suggest what
the problem might be.
Thanks

Maybe as mentioned in your error message, you need to be an administrator or
power user in order to either use or to install the program properly. Are
you an administrator or power user of the PC that you are installing it on?
Maybe this is your problem since some (most) programs require this.

Hello Harry
Thanks for your comments, you could be right that I need to be an
administrator. I have installed many programs without this problem, I
have an old computer that is running Win 98 and I can install the
program on that machine without any problems. I've tried installing on
my XP machine using Win 98 compatability but it didn't work.
I'm trying to find out how I can set my machine as administrator user,
do you know?
Bye for now
Graham

Harry
After I sent the previous email I checked in my Control Panel/Users
Account and I am listed as the administrator so now I dont know which
way to go.

You have to log on with an administrator account in order to create an
administrative user. There is a hack to reset the administrator password in
case it is forgotten. You can search the web for this hack, it can be found
very easily.

Adobe Reader for Palm is well known to be a heap of junk. Just get rid of it.

But there's too much product in pdf that's not in friendlier formats.

Harry
I am still battling away at this problem. If I go to Control Panel
and User accounts it says that I am the computer administrator. However
I am the only person who uses this computer so at boot up I'm never
asked if I am the administrator ( as I have seen on somebody else's
computer) I have never had a password to log on.
It does seem as if it is around the administrator area which is the
problem.
I have looked in both Palm and Adobe forum's for the answer and it
looks as if other people have had the same problem but I can find no
direct answer to solve it.
Again thanks for taking an interest.
Bye for now
Graham

I've purchased a copy of RepliGo and that seems to have done the job. I
have been able to get convert pdf docs and transfer them to my palm.
