I would like to get a small 11" netbook/notebook for an extended trip to record OTA TV on using a USB tuner stick. I am not sure how powerful a netbook/mini laptop must be to accomplish this with good 1080 record and playback. I have a new 15" XPS Dell laptop at home that is equipped with internal tuner card and works great, but I wanted something small for my trip, but don't want to spend a great deal of money ($400 range)
I already ordered the Avertv tuner card, but just read that the AMD c-60 dual processor with 1.3 will not be powerful enough for usb tuner, so now I need to find out what might work without having to spend too much. I am looking now at units that have the AMD E=450 processor with 1.6 G, but not sure if that has enough power either.
AMD E-350/E-450 will certainly have enough power. It's an excellent choice for a decent 'all-rounder'. If you not going to need a faster laptop for heavy multi-tasking needs this will get the job done.
