So I have this problem that just began today where after i put in my password to log in it will load the screen then it will freeze. After many times of restarting the laptop it would do this now all of a sudden right after i log in it will freeze. It even does this on safe mode. Sometimes it shows that I have a HD other times it doesn't. This all happened today. Does this mean I have a bad HD??

Try running chkdsk or if you can not get this far run a hard drive diagnosis from a external flash drive on boot up

My favorite disk diagnostic is the Drive Fitness Test from IBM on the Ultimate Boot CD.

I sent my laptop today out to toshiba hopefully they figure out what is wrong with it.
