I want to get more performance out of my XP2000+ without tinkering with the chip, now my mobo has an option for the FSB to run at 100/133, at the moment its on default ( 100 ).

Now I got Easy Tune 4 with the mobo's software, would the whole setup handle it if I set the DIP switches on the mobo straight to 133 or should I use the software to up it 1MHz at a time?

Tnx

hey dude.....i feel sorry for you.......how long have u had ur AXP 2000+ ??

Cuz the defualt (100MHz) FSB is the Motherboard default...not the CPU....that CPU is SUPPOSED to run at 133MHz FSB by default....so for however long uve had ur chip uve been underclocking it.....set the bios or dip switch settings to 133/133....not 100/133 or 100/100.............

2000+ = 1662.5MHz which is 12.5 x 133
Thats what ur computer SHOULD be running at.....HOWEVER...accordign to what u said.....it's running at 100Mhz FSB...which means this....

12.5 x 100 = 1250MHz Thats slower than a AXP 1500+, the slowest AXP Available...which is 1.33GHz......so do us all a favour and switch all ur settings in the bios or via dip switches to 133MHz FSB and Memory speed.....and ull notice a HUGE speed increase......

That's funny, you've been underclocking your processor with incorrect settings and now you want to "get more performance" out of it.

No offense, but do some research before you build or upgrade a PC to make sure you're doing everything correctly.

One bright spot, I'm sure your processor ran cool, LOL.

A second bright spot: a free upgrade !
on a side note, wouldnt the BIOS report something different from XP2000+ while booting ? Surely you'd notice that one day or another. But then again im not too sure, since my MB will display XP1800+ even if my fsb is set at 166 Mhz.. havent tried 100 yet though ;)

I'm OCing my 1700+ to 1900+ speed, and my bios still says 1900+ if I clock back down to 1700+, so i don't know.

It's still pretty funny that he didn't notice.

When i first installed my xp 2000, i forgot to change the jumper to 133 so it was displayed on the bios as an Athlon 1250 (which doesn't even exist as far as i know).I soon realised my mistake though.
