Does anyone know what I should use to put together a good video editing system? I was thinking of a dual 2600 XP system, or something to that effect. I'd like to use an AIW Radeon 9700 or something that can capture and watch in real time analog footage (composite) in addition to DV.

Any ideas? And if so, any ideas of cost?

you don't need dual cpu.

Just a large hard drive in RAID 0 or a Large SCSI hard drive. 512MB of RAM and a really fast processor. AMD or intel but i recommend an nforce2 board. If yo ucan't find one go SIS chipset, if you don't like what they provide Intel produces the best chipsets around.

Not to mention a decent video editing software. I have yet to find one i like. Got any recomendations?

alright well good luck!
