Hi guys Im back with a few more newbie questions.
Ok the first one is
1) The computer that I planned to instert a radeon 8500, the processor temperature is quite high. I remember, when i asked my friend to slap the computer together ( I basically used old parts and just got a new Motherboard and processor) and i just gave him a cheap fan and heatsink. Using Motherboard Moniter and Sisoftware Sandra it tells me that the Motherboard is at 32degrees celcius and the processor is at 77Degrees celcius *idle*. I never checked the temp or question it since it never locked up or stuttered. Now I understand that these temps are very high but will inserting a radeon 8500 increase it even more? I don't plan to replace the heatsink or fan because i also have a amd athlon 1600+ computer lying around collecting dust. I would like to give it away to nephew since he still runs a crappy duron.
2)My second question is where would I insert the video card? There are 3 PCI slots but i dont remember seeing one specially marked for the vid card. Here is the link to the mobo

Well, you are right about your temps. Those are a little high. The general consensus I get is, "if it runs fine then don't worry about it." But if you want to try some things here are a few suggestions.
1. How good is the air flow in the case? The best HSF can't do any good if it can only work with hot air.
2. Are there lots of cords and IDE cables blocking airflow inside the case?
3. What is the temp in the room the computer is in?
4. Is the computer inside a closed up desk case? If so this is bad.
Just do some testing. Open the case and put a regular fan blowing air into the computer case. If this drops your temps significantly then you just might have a air flow problem.
Now on to the video card. That card will use an AGP interface. Therefore it won't fit into a PCI slot. The AGP slot is going to be the top most slot on the motherboard and will be a different color than the PCI slots. Just pop it in and turn it on. If you need any more help just ask again.
actually, the airflow is quite good. At the bottom of the case I cut out 1mmx1mm squares with a nifty tool i got at work. I did about 300 on each side symetrically. I meant on the side panel, the lower portion. I opened up the case and nothing seems to be in the way of the airflow....
And can you point out where vid card would go? I think im blind I cant seem to find where the AGP slot is.
Whoa. I'm surprised someone hasn't freaked out at that temperature reading yet. 77 Degrees Celcius idle?? That is beyond >very< high, that is dangerously high. If that reading is accurate, you need to do something about it soon. I'm assuming that temperature is from some sort of AMD setup, as that is in the range where a pentium shuts down as a safety precaution. While you may be stable, running a processor at those temperatures over a prolonged period is extremely detrimental to its health. Would highly reccomend changing HSF/fan, or entirely new system as you were saying.
Oh, and that mobo baffles me. It doesn't seem to have an AGP slot that I can see. On newer mobos it is fairly obvious, as in this picture. You can clearly see the 5 PCI slots, followed by the brown AGP slot. How old is this motherboard we're talking about?
Judging by the picture, not only is it an old mobo, but it's also a micro ATX mobo. Hence no AGP slot, as that was a common way for micro ATX mobos to go. A lot of times they claim to have AGP graphics, but that only counts the onboard graphics controller. (My home PC is this way.) So to upgrade the graphics from the onboard, PCI is the only solution. It's a bummer, but cheap is cheap is cheap. Heh heh.
