Just recently bought an Athlon XP 1800+ and have been having some problems with it being a lower CPU speed then it should be. Currently its only running at 1145mhz instead of 1.5ghz. I tried changing the CPU speed inside the BIOS which was somewhat successful (i could have win2k up for about 3mins before it froze completely). Anyone have any ideas as to why it freezes when its on the correct CPU speed?

you have got the fsb set to 100 instead of 133.It should be 133 with xp 1800 at 11.5 multiplier- 11.5X133=1530ish but you have it at 100X11.5=1150(or 1145 in your case).there should be a jumper on your motherboard for setting the fsb-check in your manual if you can't see it, then change it to 133.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

Not sure what you mean by the Host clock but it looks something like this when i change it
CPU Speed: 133/133mhz
Frequency: 133mhz
DRAM: 133mhz

Chances are, if your FSB was set to 100MHz by default, that some other BIOS variables are deficient also. I don't know if this is possible on this mobo, but increase the CPU vcore among other things.
