I just installed my ePoX 8k7a mb, but when i load it won't boot unless i under-clock the cpu speed to 100 instead of 133. I have a xp1600+ , should be running at 1.4 but is now running around 1.03 ghz. I tried updating bios on mb and drivers on the amd chip still nothing. I'm thinking the cpu could have problems? since this is a new mb, but then the same cpu worked with the same model of mb but i had to return that mb in for defective usb. my setup in brief is 8k7a , geforce4ti4200, 60gig ibm, 60 gig WD, xp1600+.

Thanks in advance

could be a weak PSU, you've got some heavy parts in there, big drain from the Ti4200. Do you know the manufacturer?

Soon enough, Intel will make the i845s...imagine dual channel Sdram...*shudder*

It could be PS, and I would check to see if CPU is not overheated.

BFG TECH for the ti4200 128MB. I'm leaning more towards a damaged cpu tho. since i was running pretty hot with the 1600+ on the older epox8k7a. temps around 55-60. but i thot the xp chips can run up to 70 or so? I know amd already runs really hot. The PSU is the same one i used on the temporary setup while my epox was in mail. It worked fine with the same setup without the amd cpu and epox mb.

I doubt it. If it were, you'd have seen your comp crashing frequently even at FSB 100. Maybe you missed some settings in BIOS or jumpers to make it run stable at FSB 133 (VCore, VMem, etc.).
