More about seeking laptop gaming possibilities
  1. Hello davidlogan96;

Any laptop that can game is going to be an excellent option for the usual school, social networking and entertainment tasks.

Here are a couple options with a
    GT 540M graphics card.

The 14" MSI X460DX $700 ($620 after rebate) I added since it's 14" size might make it more attractive to you.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M review has some gaming benchmarks.
  2. I Think I am going to up the price range to 750-800 max, would that yield better options for gaming?
  3. MSI X460DX 14" Core i5 Notebook Review (different model with Core i5 CPU)
  4. It might get you a GT 555M or HD 6770 graphics card.
We can look around at more options in that range

    Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 Core i5 2430M(2.40GHz) 6GB RAM 750GB 15.6" 1366x768 LCD w/ GeForce GT 555M $829 getting close
  5. I think sticking with the Gt540m will be fine, i like the reviews of it. Lets narrow it down to that card, and lets do 800 at VERY max

    Btw, i appreciate your help!
  6. Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 14-inch "Sandy Bridge" Laptop w/ Core i3 $649
    Core i3-2310 4GB RAM, 500GB, 14 1366x768 LCD w/ GT 550M graphics

This might be the best gaming and all-around performance option:
    -> HP Pavilion dv6t 15.6-inch "Sandy Bridge" Core i3 2.1GHz Laptop $550
$725 w/ Core i5-2430M CPU and Radeon HD 6770M upgrade
  7. Correct the math to read $750 w/ Core i5-2430M CPU and Radeon HD 6770M upgrade

    AMD Radeon HD 6770M review
  8. Would you say the core i3 is "good enough" i would prefer an i5 atleast
  9. I would say that. It doesn't have Turbo but it's powerful enough to support
these graphics cards well and plenty of power for everything else.
  10. dark umber
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

FREE UPGRADE to 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
FREE UPGRADE to 640GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    No Additional Office Software
    No additional security software
    6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
15.6" High Definition HP LED Brightview (1366x768)
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
HP TrueVision HD Webcam with Integrated Digital Microphone and HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader
    Intel 802.11b/g/n WLAN
    Standard Keyboard with numeric keypad
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I did the coupon, the Total price is 724

That seems like a VERY good deal as the 6770m is a great card
  11. So is that laptop i customized on the HP site, good enough?
    the 6770m has great benchmarks
  12. It's the best gaming option in your budget range ATM.
You'll want to compare that against any other Black Friday deals you might run across.
