I am thinking I want to make DVD's from old Hi-8 tapes. My Hi-8 video camera has AV output, the old standard RCA outputs, no S-video. My old video card doesn't have VIVO so I think I'm going to buy a MSI-ti4200 with VIVO. My question here is: does anyone know if the MSI-ti4200 has AV inputs?
I don't have a DVD burner, but I have a CD burner. Is there any way to burn CD's that will play video in a normal DVD player? Or do I have to buy a DVD burner?
This might sound dumb, what is VCD?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks

The MSI card, like all other Ti4200 /w vivo cards, has video input that should fit the one on your video camera. Note that you should connect the audio output of your camera to the line in of the sound card.
Many of today's DVD players can play VCD's and even the higher picture quality SVCD's. So first you need to find out if your DVD player can do that. To burn VCD's or SVCD's, you need a CD burner and a burning software (such as Nero). What you would do is using a capture card (or TV card or graphics card /w vivo) to capture the videos from your camera and store them in hard disk as as mpeg files. Then you would simply use the burning software to burn VCD's which can be played by the above DVD players.
Check out the following link which has all the info on this subject.
DVDRHELP.com is awesome! Thanks for the tip! I went ahead and burned a VCD with a mpg file and tried it in my DVD player. It worked just fine. Now all need is the VIVO card. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
