Hello maris1013;

In what way were you unsuccessful?
What distro of Linux did you try?

I would do a system image of your windows 7 install before you do your Linux.

+1 to WR2
what type of linux do you want to install and what error do you get?

Make a System Image and backup your files. Not because you're installing Linux, just because it's the smart thing to do.
Also make a System Repair Disc. At the Start Menu, type in system repair in the search bar at the bottom and choose the option in Programs section.

Then create a system partition and install Linux in the newly created partition and set up a dual boot optin.
