Hello all.

Pardon my lack of jargon, but am I suppose to apply paste to the whole area of CPU, or just the part that sticks out the middle? I cant imagine applying paste to the whole area because of the pads in the corners.

Eugene.

Be careful NOT to get the paste of anything but the die (thing in the middle), some pastes are conductive and if it gets on any of the other little things on the top you may short (kill very badly) your chip.

You just apply a very small SUB-rice grain sized amount in the center of the cpu die. Some say not to spread it out, but i prefer to evenly coat the top of the cpu core... the core mind, not the whole cpu.

If its a P4 cpu, then all over the silver coloured heatspreader.
