Most of the ppl. that know me here knew/know i had an AXP 1600+ Severly overclocked.....anyways i was fooling around with the L7 Bridges (For The Voltage) And scraped away the contact on one of the bridges by accident and now the chip defaults to 1.35 VCore.....and its not even close to enough to run the chip at even 100Mhz FSB....and the MB i had it in doesnt support voltage adjustments..whihc is why i was trying to fill all the L7's bridges in the first place....so anyways i traded the chip to a friend of mine as his MB Supports manual voltage changes and works fine there....but...in turn i got a 1.3GHz T-Bird......100Mhz FSB Version.....

Here's what i want to know whats faster.....

A AMD Duron 750 running at 7.5 Multiplier and 133Mhz FSB for a total of 1000Mhz with Defualt voltage...or...a 1.3GHz T-Bird 100Mhz FSB Running defualt everything ?????

T-bird 1.3 should be faster

r u sure ???

Right now i popped in the Duron......133 * 7.5 = 1000MHz defualt VCore...and i dunno i had the T-Bird 1.3 in here...id keep it in but it doesnt OC at all.....i unlocked it.....dropped the Multi to 10.0 and put FSB to 133 for 1.333Ghz and nothing....raised VCore to 1.85....still nothing.....but it works at either 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz it wont boot with any other Multiplier or VCore or even FSB Settings....

Anyways The Duron seems quite speedy at 133MHz FSB.....it loads games to my eyes anyways exactly the same as the T-Bird...but in Windows the Duron feels a bit speedier.....

ne 1 have any input ???

Use 3D Mark to test which CPU is faster. IMO, For CPU testing, 3D Mark 2000 is better than 2001 if you don't have the top-notch graphics card

Well I wouldnt say i Have a top-notch Gfx Card.....its a LeadTek GF4 MX440 64MB Oc'd to 350Mhz Core and 500Mhz Mem from 270 & 405......

i agree though i find 2000 to be a bit better......

The 1.3 pulled about 400 3D Marks better than the Duron......but thats 3D performance..big deal.....i dont do HEAVY gaming.....well not always...i usualy use it for 2D Apps....Photoshop a lot....and MP3 playing..DivX Movies....ICQ and MSN and the surfing....

OK, then test Lame MP3 Encoding and DiVX encodinng performance.

BTW, is it impossible for you to sell both the Duron and T-bird and get a new AXP 1600+?

LoL...i could get a new AXP 1600+ no problem...the thing is i have 3 systems and only 2 in operation.....and ita either i use the Duron in the system im on now or put it in the other system..therefore sellign both chips to get 1 chip will make me havign to get ANOTHER cpu yet again....

right now i have 2 CPU's......i need 2.......so yea u get the idea......

Id say the 1.3 is faster than the Duron simply because it has a bigger L2 cache. it should also run alot cooler (not OC'ed). Run a Cpu test like madonion's PC mark which will give you CPU specific results. BTW if you're using Artic Silver 3 you'll spend more on paste swapping the CPUs than just buying a new one.

He should bench with practical benchmarks, not with PC Mark.

Well....this is going to sound wierd but hey whatever....I got a sorry sap to trade me his 1.333Ghz T-Bird AYHJA for my 1.3Ghz 100Mhz FSB Chip.......he was running his on an old A7V and he couldnt figure out how to get it working at just 1.3Ghz so i told him id trade him the proper chip for his board.....

Anyways...i still do some tests.....and wow if AMD released a Duron with 133Mhz FSB man they'd be smoking! i mean running from 1000Mhz 100MHz FSB to 1000Mhz 133MHz FSB yields a 20% performace boost overall...thats from 3D Mark 2000, 2001 B330, PC Mark 2002, and a few others..and memory performace sky rocketed....wow...

Anyways...the 1.333Ghz is much better....at 1.85VCore it can OC to 1,550Mhz nothing better thats the absolute maximum i can get out of her at 37 degrees celcious....

Thanx all for ur input! Im still gonna keep the Duron in here though to fool around with...

as for the Paste...im not worried about it....ive got over 100g's of Paste....i swap out the CPU's at least 3 times a day just to do different comparissions....ive got a whole test bed. system for it =)
