Well it looks like I wont an auction on ebay that I didnt mean to bid on so now I have a Radeon 9700 Pro lol... Right now I have a XP 1900 CPU on a K7T266 Pro2 Board. Will this 8x AGP video card work? Or is it time to build another computer? The thing is I want to build another computer but this Nvidea FX chip or whatever is supposed to perform like 50% better than this card I just bought... So should I sell this card again on ebay, and get my money back then wait longer untill nvidea releases this chip and prices for p4 ht proccessers drop down a bit? Or should I just go ahead and build a 2700+ CPU with this video card? And if I do will it be obsolete in 2 months when nvidiea releases that GPU? Wow thanks in advance for taking your time to read my post cus I really need opinions sometimes I just cant think for myself =D
If you got a good price on the R9700 Pro then consider yourself fortunate. It's a great card and I can't see the GeForce FX being *THAT* much better than it. And I don't see why it wouldn't work on that board.
As for upgrading, I don't think it'd be practical to upgrade your processor. AXP 1900+ is good enough for now. I'd be more concerned about upgrading your power supply if it's not 350W or higher already. I hear those new video cards consume lots of power.

ok man thanks =D it wouldnt work mabey becuase the board is only 4X AGP or wahtever and vid card is 8x.. I got the vid card a pretty good deal like $265 on ebay then $10 for S&H so its not bad i guess...
No bother, AGP x8 is backwards compatible. Even with an AGP x8 motherboard you wouldn't see any better performance from the R9700pro, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe someone else can back me up on this.

so dont fork out the cash for a complete new system just use mine right now and pop in that video card right? Cus like my system has about 1024 MB DDR 2700 Ram so I think its not bad and itll last me till the next generation of computers with that video card?
Well you will be able to see the difference for yourself. Compare before-and-after results on 3dMark 2001se. MadOnion Link for 3dMark if you haven't got it already. I'd imagine the difference will be significant.

Keep the 9700 Pro because when the FX comes out ATI's next chip will be just around the corner so you have to wait for that and then when it does come out Nvidia's next chip is just around the next corner and on and on. If you stick with waiting for the next card that they say will preform 'x' amount better even before it is released you will never buy a card and be happy with it, or you might just never buy a card.
Just because I like AMD or Intel more at a time because of one product compared to another, does not make me a fan boy, it makes me a person who is able to make a descision for myself.
Don't upgrade unless you just want to. "ATi Radeon 9700 PRO - Pretender To The Throne" deals with the subsystem scaling you are talking about. The subsystem in this article is a P3, and two P4 systems, but it should give you an idea of what to expect if you did upgrade your system.
The solution may be obvious, but I can't see it for the smoke coming off my processor.
