I'd go with the amd system just on the fact that the p4 3.06 is like 800 bucks while you can get the xp2800+ and the mobo for about 500-550. I'm sure the P4 3.06 kicks ass but since it is 2x as expensive as the xp2800+ I would expect a serious performence advantage...not sure if thats the case......

WoW!!! Well, either way, that is going to be one insanely fast system, assuming your getting a ATi 9700 Pro graphics card to boot. But because you've already covered the audio area with the Audigy 2 and you don't seem to be at all restricted by price, I would go with the Intel option but with a Pentium4 2.66GHz. Then overclock that SOB! But, if your like my elder brother and won't except anything other than the fastest, no matter what the cost, then go with the P4 3.06. But in order utilize HT, you must have Windows XP. I recommend Windows XP Pro (OEM) if you don't already have a full version of windows xp (home or pro).

Starwrz3 I am counting on this:

*************** Voodoo Extreme *******************
Digitimes has word that MSI and Leadtek will be the first two manufacturers to get their grubby hands on GeForce FX samples, which are apparently in very limited supply. So limited, in fact, that Nvidia in turn may use finished cards made by MSI and Leadtek to give to other manufacturers as chip samples! Dates, dates, dates:

Based on the production schedule, GeForce FX graphics cards are expected to hit the market at the end of January at the earliest.

Whether it's a high end ATi Card(9700 pro) or nVidia card (GeForceFX), I would love to see your 3DMarks whether you choose AMD or Intel.

morganwill: I need top of the line because I only upgrade PC's every 2 years. I need this PC to run Unreal 2 and Doom 3 well. I'm a huge gamer and this system will be used for 90%+ for gaming. Also, I will be using my existing Elsa Gladiac GeForce 3 until the GeForce FX cards come out which I hope will be in Jan.
