Can anyone help me? I have asked the following question many times with no satisfactory answer. I would like to upgrade my 1500xp to a 2400xp (motherboard ASUS A7M266).In theory my m/b should accept this cpu. It operates at 266mhz fsb and it's socket A. There is a bios update for my board which enables the board to recognise 'thoroughbred' cores as athlon xp cpu. Asus would have me believe, however, that 2100xp is my max choice (according to their support site) but when e-mailed they stated 2200xp was the max. No-one seems to be able to tell me WHY I can't stick a 2400xp on my board??????????? Can anyone help?

just do it, even the OEM processors have a 30 day gaurantee, just make sure the company you get it from will re-imburse you, though i really doubt you will have any problems
