This may sound a bit stupid, but I am new at this game. What is the Fsb speed of a 1.4 thunderbird? I recently updgraded my motherboard and is having problems with heat and instability.

There were 2 versions of the 1.4 t-bird. Either 100 fsb (14 multiplier) or 133 (with a multiplier of 10.5). Both were among the hottest running cpus produced by amd. You may want to try thermal paste with your cpu. A very thin layer is preferable. Or, go for the swiftech or thermalright copper heatsinks and an 80mm fan. Your cpus should run stable at about 60 celcius or less. The instability could be caused by a number of issues, including the via drivers or the video card driver.

I have a AMD 1.4 T-bird also. 133 FSB. It did overheat alot, so i installed a better heatsink than the original supplied. It worked, and running around 40 celcius now. A better heatsink and fan would solve some problems.
