I have just bought an ECS K7S5A revision 1 m/board, an AMD 2000XP CPU and 512 PC133 SDRAM chip. Problem: with the BIOS clock speeds set for 100/100 for the CPU and memory the machine boots and works fine. However, obviously this is only allowing the CPU to show as a 1250mhz chip. When I change the BIOS to 133/133 to use the full 2000XP power then I can't even boot beyond BIOS. In fact it blanks out immediately and I have to reset the CMOS via the jumper. The BIOS defaults to 100/100, I reboot, and I get asked for F1 key for setup but at the same time a message is displayed indicating that the CMOS battery is low and the CMOS memory is low.
Question: does the 2000XP run with 133 memory or should I spend more and get the DDR memory? OR is it that the BIOS needs reflashing - its showing 040201 as its date.
