How do I get to play a dvd on my dell inspron 14

Hello,
I have a new Dell Inspiron 14 laptop computer with Windows 7. In order to play a DVD all I needed to do in my old computer was to put a DVD into the disk drive and I would get a choice on the screen as to which media player I wanted to use and after I made the choice I could see the DVD. I put my DVD into the disk drive now and nothing is happening. What should I do?

Can you click on the Computer icon and then click the dvd from there? Or try opening Media player and see if you can play it from there.

1- What program is the default to open DVD?
2- Do u already have the codecs for play DVD?

If you want it to auto-run go to start-> Control panel -> Programs -> default programs -> change autoplay settings. Then go to DVD movie and click the drop down menu. Select 'Play with Windows media player'
