hey guys..how are u all...i'm kinda new to this site..but i'm already beginning to like it...u guys are the coolest around...i've read some of u'r forums and they're really helpful. I wanna ask that I AM WILING TO BUY A DECENT GAMING PC,AND I INTEND TO BUY A CELERON 1.7 or 1.8GHz instead OF A Pentium 4 CUZ ITS REALLY COSTING ME. I'VE SEEN THE COMPARISON CHART ON THIS SITE B/W THESE 2 IN THE BATTLE OF BROTHERS SECTION AND I KNOW P4 OUTDONE'S THE CELERON IN MANY WAYS BUT NOT BY A LONG DISTANCE SO I WAS PLANNING TO BUY A CELERON 1.7GHz AND I THINK THAT A CELERON PROCESSOR WITH A GOOD 3D CARD SHOULD DO THE TRCK FOR ME. AFTER ALL I NEED A GAMING PC . also TELL ME WHICH BOARD SHOULD I BUY INCLUDING THE GIGABYTE AND SPECIALLY THE "VIA" CHIPSET BOARD ALONG WITH A SUITABLE 3D CARD.

I recommend the asus a7n8x basic ($125 newegg) and an xp1600 ($45). You should be able to overclock it, and it beats the celeron hands down. If you still want an Intel rig, I recommend the 1.8a (about $143 retail boxed with heatsink) and the asus sa7 (about $66 newegg). Total cost difference over the celeron is about $60, but you can usually run the 1.8a at 2400 with little or no voltage increase. In the long run, you'll save money. One of these upgrades will last a lot longer than a celeron setup. Check newegg's refurbished section for video cards. The ati 8500 or geforce 4200 are the best for price/performance.
I also recomemmend you to get an lower clocked AXP (1600+ or 1700+) and A7N8X.
Let us know what is the Best Chipset of 2002 in your eye.<A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=26410#26410" target="_new"> Click </A>
Well if you're gonna buy a Celeron, at least go for the 2.0 GHz. because that is based on the .13 micron Northwood core and can be overclocked easily to 2.6 GHz. For $89 it's not a bad way to go. Put it in one of the i845PE boards for under $100 and just add a nice video card and you're good to go!
If your in the value area, Athlon XPs are the way to go. Depending on whether you want to overclock, get either the xp1600 oem(overclock) or xp2000 retail(no overclock). Nforce2 is the best chipset right now, but if you want to save a little, get a motherboard with the kt333 or kt400 chipset.
LMAO, the worst processor on the worst chipset, is this some kind of joke? These other guys are making a valid recommendation on the nForce2 and a cheap XP CPU, but it's most likely a waste of time.
<font color=blue>You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!</font color=blue>
Dosen't look like a gaming machine to me either. I quit running Celrons @ the 450 level. All I do is game mostly & I usually build the latest once a year to keep up. Gaming tasks a computer, big time!!! At least the games I play.
Signature, I'm still learning & having fun doing it!!!!!!
