Hello,
I'm looking to buy a car charger for my eeepc 1000h (my home charger is 12V 3A). i found one at tecnoware : http://www.tecnoware.com/tec/pdf/FCBNET20C_TECH%20DATA_ENG.PDF . My predicament comes from the fact that it's max power output is 20 W but it's max current output is 1,5 A at 19 Vdc (which would mean 28.5 W). So how is that possible ?..can i get 3Amps fromit when it's in 12Vdc mode?

Well yeah but it says it can also provide 1.5 Amps at 19 Vdc and that does not make any sense ( that's obviously 28.5 W , 8.5 W more than it's supposedly max output power)...

I don't know how to say it any simpler. The specs are what they are: 12V DC @ 1.7 Amps

Here's where the confusion seems to be... what you see there, 1.5A at 19Vdc does equal 28.5W BUT (big but) you'll also notice that it says "maximum output" the maximum output power listed on a power supply may be for as little as 1/10th of a second - it's simply saying it will not put out more amperage than that no matter what, it is not saying or implying that it can sustain that amperage level for any length of time.
