G3 Ti500 all the way. It's a great card, with great driver support.

You may want to consider a Ti4200 if you can find a good price on one.

The GF3 is better performer, plus it has better driver support. But you also have to take into account that the Radeon has double the RAM. So it really comes down to what kind of gamer/multimedia user you are.

If you are the kind that needs to do "the latest and greatest" (first I would look at some better cards, but that might not be possible due to budget) then the Radeon might be a better choice because games will soon (not right away, but soon) use more than 64mb memory.

If you are just a casual gamer, DVD watcher, etc, the GF3 should be a better fit.

i would go with the radeon 8500 because in some benchmarks it can come close to a ti 4200
As long as it is the FULL version......8500 full is great yeah, just make sure it's not the 8500LE.

actually the the Built by ATI 8500LE was the best one of them all, inexpensive and nearly the same performance as the non LE. Would overclock to the same speeds and usually higher aswell.

I stand corrected. 8500LE is better price/performance than I realized.

In the end, however, I'd still buy the Ti4200. I intend to get one once the GF FX's are out, hopefully they'll lower prices a bit. For ~120 USD at NewEgg.Com you can choose from several brands of Ti4200 64MB cards. The results for UT2k3 are the most impressive for getting a GF4-generation card.

the posts here are funny,I have a built by ATI Radeon 8500LE, it's spec's are default at 250/275 3.3ns. I added ramsinks(properly installed) and run it stabily at 290/300. The card cost me $79.00 here in Sacramento Ca.,and I GAURANTEE you that it will stomp ANY GeForce3....what a deal...

You didn't buy a 8500LE. You bought an OEM version of BBA Radeon 8500. ATI lowered its clock speeds on some 8500s to make it more cost effective for oem computer companies.

Stay away from the Saphire 128MB cards, those are the ones I've been seeing come with 5ns memory, clocked at 200MHz, with very little room for improvement.

You're posting in a forum with class. It may be third class, but it's still class!

I've got the same card, BBA 250/275 3.3ns memory, and it is definitely an 8500OEM and (not LE, check the sticker on the back). No RAM sinks but it overclocks to 308/335 stable (needs a good case fan pointed right at the video card). My Tbird @1.5 plus SDRAM is not enough to push this card though.

99% is great, unless you are talking about system stability
