ok well i fixed it.

with catalyst 2.4 drivers i got like 12224 and with catalyst 3.0 i got 11300. So the new drivers actually slowed it down by 1000 points. which is odd. But it still beats the 3800 i got with my old card and this 3800 was with 16 bit color, with 32bit color i'd get like 2400.
Edited by xxsk8er101xx on 01/07/03 03:19 PM.

What are you getting in 3DMark 2002?

The solution may be obvious, but I can't see it for the smoke coming off my processor.

well i think i got it working. It all worked fine when i updated the lan drivers? so weird.

with catalyst 2.4 drivers mind you, i get about 13,000 using default settings. I'm gonna try and download catalyst 3.0 and see if that works any better.

That doesn't sound bad. I don't know if you can do better. With default settings I am getting about 15,000 in 3DMark w/ 9700Pro (Catalyst 2.5), XP2700+, A7N8X Deluxe, 512 MB Corsair CAS 2. No overclocking.

The catalyst 3.0 drivers won't do you any good in performance vs the 2.5. But you have the 2.4. hmmmm.

I guess it is worth a try. The 3.0 drivers slow down the 9700 Pro in some instances vs. the 2.5.

OK finally found it. I knew I read something about the new drivers. CATALYST 3.0 Driver Report

well seeing that i only have a 2ghz pentium 4 compared to your monster lol it sounds about right. The drivers are dissapointing though. I guess i'll downgrade to 2.5 then. I tried 3.0 and yourright they suck. If anything thats ah heck it's this i noticed .. between 16 bit color and 32bit color you get almost the same score! So something is definitly wrong!

That does sound odd.

I was looking at the VGA charts and Tom's Hardware is getting 15497 on 3DMark2001SE for my setup. I am getting 14917. He ran at 60 Hz and I am at 85 Hz. I guess that might make the difference.

Either way I am happy with my performance as you should be. You get great results in games don't you?

Compared to my old card i can't complain!!! I'm sure once i get a faster cpu and better drivers this sucker still has some potential where my last card, i was stuck at 3800, couldn't get it any higher!

More than 3 times the productivity of your last system. Sounds like a good bump up.

grr, my system is highly unstable though!

the sound and lan kicks out at random upon bootup and i'm getting this system error message and then reboots my system. Something about endfile system file format or something. It's very weird and i don't understand how? i just popped in a video card and now my system is whacked.

Try NOT installing the agp drivers if you have Windows XP. My computer was very unstable when I installed my 9500pro. I reformatted but I kept installing the newest agp drivers. I just didnt install newer agp drivers when I reformated and that fixed everything.

hmmm, i just think think my system was buggerd. I reinstalled the lan drivers and the sound drivers, again. I also ran regcleaner and deleted al lthe invalid reg. keys and that seemed to have fixed the weird error i got. I had to reboot 3 or 2 times to get into windows, very odd.

But so far it seems to work good now. still getting like 11400 about with the catalyst 2.5 drivers, 1000 points lower then the 2.4 drivers. Meh, it's still fast enough for me! heh! compared to me 3800 with my old card.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

I did some testing on my system and was able to drop the 3DMark score by 2000. I get the best scores when I let the program determine the settings on the OpenGL and 3D tabs.

Lastly I went in and set the fsb to 175 and memory synchronous. The memory timings are set to 5 2 2 2 and I score 15400. Funny thing is I got a lower score when I set the refresh to 60Hz. 85Hz scored better.

well i ran regcleaner, and it seemed to have fixed it. Must have been a buged up reg entry. So far it's working fine, I even downgraded the drivers to 2.5 and it is working fine.

My problem is that my cpu is slow. I'm gonna clock it back to 2.3ghz to what i had. I clocked it back to 2ghz because i was having problems before i even popped in the new card. It seems fine now, better then before.

Great. Glad to hear it. What do you think caused the reg problem? Do you think the overclocking led to instability and then messed up the reg? Did you have any wierd freeze up.

My system started acting weird when gain was installed. I never meant to install it the stupid dialogue box popped up and i just clicked yes to get rid of it and it installed a bunch of crap.
