hello everyone!
i was just wondering if US 8500dv tv tuner would work in Australia as we have pal signal here,
i read through the 8500dv specs at ati web site and this is what i've found:
TV-tuner requirements
TV signal from amplified antenna or cable. Versions available for: NTSC (North America, Japan, and Latin America*)
PAL B/G/D/K/I and Secam L/D/K (Europe and International PAL/Secam countries)

review of US 8500dv on tom's site said that there was a problem with tv tuner picking up pal signal.

has this fixed yet?

thanks for all help

p.s oh sorry.. i forgot to say thanks to tom'hardware for the review, i like it, it's quite easy to pick up all the main points. thanks again.

Personally, you would be better off getting a regular 64MB non LE Radeon 8500 and get a separate TV Tuner card. The regular 8500 will give you better performance and the separate TV Tuner card like a Hauppage, Pinnacle System and etc, will give you better TV functions and you save money.

This RadeonDV uses slow memory, the NON LE uses much faster memory. Plus with a separate TV Tuner card like a Pinnacle PCTV, you will get lots of function. Another advantage, when you upgrade your primary video card, you still have the TV Tuner card.

I have purchase one In australia I I dont think a US version would work in Australia. I looked at other products while in the US and basically found that none of them would work in OZ.

Now I have it I am getting gitters and problems with playback. I have another post on this. If you got yours and have it working fill me in on how.

Cheers
