Hello everybody
I picked up a PC game "Descent to Undermountain" (or simular close
title) at a car boot sale yesterday for 50p. Is it worth playing? I
hadnt heard of it before, and was surprised to see the Forg Realms
sticker on it

PS - New WotC PrC Guide Releases -
"Rock Singers"
Sto-Roper Bards in the Forgotten Realms
"The Sound of Silence"
The use of backing wind instruments by ochre jelly Bards and other
slimes and oozes
"Hidden terrors"
Ninja Tarrasque and sky bleeder monks
"Death from the Shadows"
Shrieker Monks and Dire-Corby Assassins

PS - In the 1st ed Fiend Folio Dire Corbys used to shout "Doooom,
Dooom" all the time, which always made us laugh.

I haven't played it, but I've often seen it mentioned as the epitome of
horrible CRPGs. Gamespot gave it 3.7 out of 10.

IIRC. They based it off the Descent engine, which should have given
them all sorts of possibilities (had they not been building a simple
dungeon crawl), except they somehow broke it when adding a "down". The
dev team wanted to start from scratch to make the game playable, but had
their budget pulled instead.
The published game is basically a failed alpha-test with major bugs.
Gamespot is pretty generous, games are really rated on a 7.5 - 9.9
scale (and any worthwhile game gets 9.5 if it's technically up to date),
so 3.7 is like -160%, where a pass mark is 80%.

I almost feel like getting this game just to see how bad it is. Also, to
see the special splash screen when you win. Maybe I should link that over
to letoured, he'd not appreciate it suitably.

Heh, 1.0 from gamespot; impressive. I've read that one before, and
yes, Descent to Undermountain is about 110% better than that, because
you can actually make yourself believe there's a game in it.

Oh, and the video review? Hilarious, absolutely hilarious.
