system
pcchips 810LMR
axp 2000+
9700pro
512 133sdram
winxp pro

ok, Im thinking of upgrading the motherboard and getting 2700ram. I only get 9550 3dmarks with the system now and im sure thats a bit low for the cpu/videocard ive got. Ive had it for a little while now and and i tried everything to make it run faster(overclocking to 2100+ and 360/330 was gaining about 500 marks). The 9700pro was a gift so i wont complain since it runs all games flawlessly anyway.

New ram and motherboard a good idea? if so, any motherboard suggestions?

it'll be the ram and mobo that are holding you up.you really should get a ddr mobo and avoid pc chips.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

You're crippling yourself with the memory and ram. Your scores are comparable to my old 1Ghz Tbird/512MB PC2100/GF2 4200.

As long as you have that videocard, you should buy a new motherboard and memory.

Yeah, I agree. New RAM and mobo combo should do the trick. I'm running a mobo with KT333 and 256MB 2700, with an AXP 1600+, and a 9700PRO I score about 11K. But with your proccessor, and a board based on the nForce2 chipset you could easily get into the 13K range.

you need and better MB with DDR memory Support, Suggest you use the ASUS A7N8X MB with Dual DDR memory support, you will get the max performance out of your VGA Card.

Get rid of that Board and the SDRAM is killing your performance.

With An Asus A7n8x deluxe, PC2700DDR 1800+ @ XP2000 speed
145x11.5 I'm doing 13,380 3dmarks.

O thats with a Radeon 9700Pro @ stock speed.

Thanks, im insecure and like confirming things before i make a purchase.

How is the MSI K7N2-L motherboard or any of the KT333's for performance with the 9700?

There is very little reason not to buy a Nforce2 board today.
