OK,

I think my graphics card choice is down to these two bad boys. Gimme some recommendations, and especially if there are some recommended vendors for the nVidia.

the 9500pro is much faster than the Ti4200

the 8x agp of the Ti4200 gives no performance increase over the 4x version. check out the articles under the graphics card section at THG. the results show this clearly

the reason I say the 9500pro is better is because its a generation newer than the TI4200, and has roughly 2x the performance for DX8 effects. Im NOT saying 2x the performance in general, but the geometry and effects engine of the 9500pro has roughly twice the output.

this translates into higher framerates in future games (not many games nowadays take advantage of the 9500pro, thats why people are comparing it to the TI4200, which will be noticeably slower in games 6 months from now) and less upgrading

yes from a pure speed prespective it does look like the 9500 pro wins hands down in a lot of cases. Strangely enough it looks like the benchmarks here on Toms does seem to be somewhat biased towards nVidia when you compare it to the anandtech benchmarks.

I will probably wait until the end of the month once the GeForce FX card is in circulation to see what drops in price happen. Unfortunately I am firmly in the price performance sort of camp rather than cutting edge due to financial restrictions :-(

9500 pro hands down. I just compared the two and the 4200 was a major dissapointment.

9500 Pro, in most benchs it outpreforms the Ti4600 once you turn on AA.

Just because I like AMD or Intel more at a time because of one product compared to another, does not make me a fan boy, it makes me a person who is able to make a descision for myself.

No dought about it the 4200 was a good buy at Christmas.I got one and am really happy with it.It's a gainward 650/ultra and easily clocks to 4400 speeds and beyond. If it were now however, no questions about it(from what Ive read from people I trust)I would get the 9500 pro. It's all about turning up the eye candy and still getting reasonable frame rates right? right....PS I hate the word eye candy we need to call it somethin less gay soundin.
