gf4 ti4200 8x overclocking

hi,

i just bought an asus gf4 ti4200 8x 128mb card, and i have a few questions; firstly, its core was clocked at 252mhz and memory 513mhz, this is above specification isnt it? (should be 250/444), anyway, with no mods or anything i clocked her up to gf4 4400 specs (275/550), does this make it effectively a gf4 4400 or is there another difference between the cards? also which is more important to performance, core clock or memory clock? i just put 8 ramsinks on the memory so i am hoping to approach gf4 4600 memory speeds, and then maybe clock up the core as far as i can to gf4 4600 specs - is this possible? whats the highest anyones clocked a gf4 4200? any tips on cooling the core?

also, it has one dvi output and one analogue, (hitachi cml174sxwb on the dvi), can i connect my old crt to the analogue for dual screen, or is it that if you want dual screen you have to use two analogues (by using the dvi to analogue converter)?

For GF TI4200 8X official spec is 250/512 instead the 250/444.

No.

The 64meg version runs at 250/513. The 128meg version runs at 250/444. But the new 128meg 8x versions have been clocked up to 250/513. They have faster memory on them now. You still pay more for the card, but at least the memory is up there.

I have a 64meg version. It's perfectly stable and clean at 290/600. Jedi Knight 2, Unreal Tournament, Medal of Honor, and 3dmark2k1. I've had it to 300/610 clean, but only when my ambient is under 20C or so. I've not bothered modding the card any, yet; I just got my system stable and haven't really had much time for games yet.

I have two side panel fans (low speed) blowing right across the card, with no memory heatsinks. If you throw some long copper heatsinks on those memory chips (one heatsink across two chips; you can just go buy a thin piece of C110 at any sheet metal shop and it will work very well for minimum cost and time), you can push it up to 630 or 640 on the memory. The gpu is another matter, but arctic silver epoxy alone will net you 300 completely stable.

The Ti4200 is a still a good buy. It has been for about 5 months now.
