9700 Pro & DX9

Should I update my DirectX 8.1 to DirectX 9.0 first then install the 9700 Pro driver or vice-versa?

My PC has gone to hell... because it's a killing machine...

it's advised that you install 9.0 before putting the card in, but sometimes that can't be helped
