Saturday started with the dawning of a new BloodBATH, 2005! Would we see a
new champion? Would we see enough players? Would the drinkers watching the
rugby next door keep the noise down? Only time would tell, and to start
with it wasn't looking promising as at 12pm we only had four players, though
fortunately within the next few minutes four more appeared from below and we
had enough to start.
Gathered in the corner of The Huntsman pub, ready to play were
Sam Marsh (me) with !nos toolbox
Graham Smith with Tremere bleed
Paul Reid-Bowen with Decapitate/Ritual of the Bitter Rose
Steve Bloss with Lazverinus Blocks
Frank Connell with OBF/CEL
Hugh Angseesing with Gangrel Royalty
Phil Mattingly with Anarch Gangrel
Matt Green with Blood Brothers.
Table 1 R1
Phil > Frank > Paul > Sam
This started badly for me with me first minion Tarbaby Jack having his head
torn off and Paul Ritualling all his minions... However after this set back
I slowly worked my way back into the game as Frank came barrelling out on
the other side with Desert Eagles putting big holes in Phil and Pauls
minions. Frank over stretched himself and Phil put him out. It was a three
horse race, but with blood still remaining on my minions I pulled ahead - to
such a state that I heard the rarely spoken "What can we do to stop Sam
winning?" I did indeed go on to win the game, although it had been a brutal
match, with Tarbaby burnt, Bobby Lemon, Horrock, Celeste, Lord Ashton, Ellen
Fence, Wah Chun-Yuen, Henry Taylor, Skryta Zyleta and Beast all sent to
torpor and Repo Man turned into road kill.
Bloodbath indeed.
Table 2 R 1
Graham > Steve > Hugh > Matt
This game, from what I was told was the opposite of ours, not a lot
happened, no combat, just a slow decline for most players until Hugh scooped
the points one by one.
Table 1 R 2
Hugh > Phil > Matt > Frank
This game was more even, although again I don't know the full story as I was
playing on the other table. This time Hugh was slowed, as both Phil and
Matt took a point, but it wasn't enough to stop Hugh getting the last two.
Table 2 R 2
Paul > Graham > Sam > Steve
More violence was unleashed, and once again Tarbaby took a hit, although
this time only torpored, from where he was rescued. More brutality, with
five vampires torpored, and two more burnt. I fell first, and then Paul,
leaving Steve and Graham to time out while they both built their defences.

Final
Hugh > Graham > Steve > Sam > Phil
Well almost an all Bath final, with Hugh intruding - although he is a West
Country Boy, and was drinking enough cider to count as an honourary local :)
More brutality, although of a more refined nature. Hugh quickly took out
Graham, but not before Mind Raping Carna, and Stanislava stealing Ankara
Citadel. The game then slowed again, with everyone guarding against their
predator. However Hugh once again started laying down some filth - more
Mind Rapes and even Protect Thine Own. I tried to cross table rush
Stanislava with Beast, to try and stop Hughs progress, but to no avail -
Alpha Glint warned me off. I did manage to oust Phil, but it was not enough
to stop Hugh who went on to win his third BloodBATH title. Congratulations
to Hugh, next year we will be breaking thumbs to try and stop you, although
it might not be enough!

Hugh 3 GW 10 VPs
Sam 1 GW 4 VPs
Phil 0 GW 2 VPs
Graham 0 GW 1.5 VPs
Steve 0 GW 1.5 VPs
Matt 0 GW 1 VP
Paul 0 GW 0 VP
Frank 0 GW 0 VP

Hoepfully next time we will get some more players - there was four that
cried off at the last minute for various reasons. However we all had fun,
and it remained very friendly all day, fueled by liberal amounts of beer.

Nice deck, but I'll point out that it did win *without* DU or KR. ;)
