GeForce 3 TI200 or Radeon 9000 PRO?

I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I don't have any large requirements for a graphic card, but I want games like Gothic II, Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights to run smooth on my XP1800+
I was thinking to buy Hightech Radeon 9000 PRO 64mb, but then I found Gainward GeForce 3 TI200 128mb(not a Golden Sample). Both have 4ns memory and the price is almost same.
Thanks for any advice, and please no "nVidia sux, ATI rocks!" :)

ima ATI lover, always have been

but I say go with the TI200....

the 9000pro is a cheap-ass version of the 8500. its still decent, but corners have been cut to make it a budget card.

plus the TI200 has 128megs of ram =). tis will make a difference if yer giong to play UT2003 or CNC Generals or other new games like that...

might be able to overclock teh core of the 9000pro a little higher, but that wont make enuff of a difference to merit buying one.

another option....buy a 8500LE 128meg. =D
CHEAPER, and faster than the 9000pro OR TI200. trust me, they r a STEAL.

where do you live? U.S or Canada or where? i know of a good canadian site that sells 8500LE's cheap

BTW, GeForce 3 TI200 have 350Mhz RAMDAC, while Radeon 9000 PRO have 400Mhz, is that a big difference?
Not really unless you have a real high end professioanl monitor that can do 85hz at something like 2048x1536x32 with a 85hz refresh rate. 2d quality is probably better with the Radeon 9000 but depending on your monitor you probably won't notice it to much.

I have a GF3 Ti200 that overclocks to 260/545 and kicked some major butt for its time. Radeon 9000 also has more advance pixel shaders but you probably won't need them yet except Doom3 will probably run a little better with them. Interesting choice, I would go with the GF3 Ti200 with 128mb of ram myself. Presently I have a Radoen 9700 Pro humming in my machine.

I bought a R9000 and returned it for an 8500LE, its a much better card, it benches 2000 points higher in 3dMark 01SE. I wouldnt go with the GF3 simply because of the larger RAM, it wont make a significant difference since you said you arent a hardcore gamer. Try to find a R85000 or R8500LE.

Hey Mental...
The link you post of the 8500LE is from Crucial UK, so I reckon you can order from e-tailers in the UK.
Have a look at this: http://www.addonsonline.co.uk, go to video card/Jetway. They are selling the radeon 8500 275/275 for around GBP80.00
I don't know whether they ship abroad, but you may mail them.
BTW, I bought this card less than a month ago, and it is performing very well. I was thinking about getting the GF3, but after lots of reviews reading and forum advice I was convinced that the 8500 275/275 would be the best in terms of cost/performance.

Cheers!!!

Hmm, I don't know if Cruical UK ships to Sweden, that's the only Radeon 8500LE we have available in shops here, so I just posted a link to technical specs :)
But thanks for that link, they indeed have Radeon 8500LE, and I've already sent them an email.
Thanks again

They actually sell the R8500. The LE model is clocked @ lower speeds... in the case of Crucial R8500LE 250/166.
It was hard for me to find someone in the UK selling the R8500 275/275, but it was rewarding when I found that.

Cheers, good luck!!!

Hmm, the Radeon 9100 is better than Radeon 9000, right?
I heard somewhere that the Radeon 9100 is the Radeon 8500, is this true?

Anyway, the Radeon 9100 is 20kr(2 USD) more expensive than the Radeon 9000..
So if the 9100 is better then you should buy it instead.

Actually many GF3 TI200 have 128mb of ram.
And I was aiming at Radeon 9000PRO, not Radeon 9000. But again 9100 is slower than 9000PRO
So much I managed to figure out :)
