will the svideo to rca adapter that came with my Radeon 8500 work with a gf4 ti4200?

its not an active adaptor, if the card doesnt support the different connection option or the auto sensing, it wont work. you could always just try it. it wont hurt anything.

my computer is so fast, it completes an endless loop in less than 4 seconds!

The output of the ATI card is a combination output, it has 6 pins instead of 4. The extra two are for composite output via your dongle cable. I don't know if your nVidia card has the same connector type.
