slow performance 9700Pro on Unreal 2..HELP

hi,...i just got myself a sapphire 9700 Pro on my pc and was hoping that would pump up my Fps on Unreal 2, but i only got around 39fps on 1024x768 32 bit, Full detail(shadows etc) and without FSAA, Anistropic filtering, and the V-sync was off. So I was like "WAZZUP!?!?!" i'm pretty sure that my system is well above the reccomended one, any of u now what is wrong with it? Here is my system
P4 2,2Ghz 512cache(i think its called cache)
512Mb Pc 2100 DDR, ASUS P4BS533, Windows 98SE, Direct X 9 (already try with 8.1, upgrade to 9, no difference), Catalyst 3.0 (somehow i cannot installed the 3.1, it always said "fatal error" or somethin like that
i got 11K in my 3dmark 2001, on 1024x766, but when i try 1280x1024, the score lowered to around 6K. Something is wrong with my card or my system, could it be power supply?(only had 300w, but the system doesnt restar or crashes).
please help!!..i dont want to end up spend $320 on card that has the same performance as Ti4400.....thx

as for your 3dmark scores dropping at the higher res something is up there. But unreal 2 fps are fine.
I'm a Radeon 9700 pro also with a overclocked 1800+ and fps jumped anywhere from 40-90fps and sometimes all the way down to 25-30fps in outdoor scenes i'm using Cat 3.1 and DX9. and playing @ 1280x1024 no AA no Ani most details on high.

though maybe that PC2100 ram is holding u back

Sorry to be a lamearse but how do you check fps in Unreal2.

I know how to do it in UT (original) but can't find the option in U2.

i know its a pain in the arse, but have you tried reinstalling everything?
when i had low fps in unreals 2003 demo i reinstalled windows and everything was neary twice as fast (so to speak)
before i couldnt beat my girl friends g3 ti 200 and that was really annoying.. but after the reinstall, i was flying..
also, (i personally dont like using it) but have you tried xp? it might help it might not, just might be worth a go...

my xp1800, pc2100 memory (2 x 256mbs) and gigabyte 9700 pro seem to score better in 98 than in xp pro (that im using now, sadly) as i could roughly get 13885 3dmarks in 2001se.. i am going to try and change my memory, as i want a faster system anyway.. i would imagine that would make a difference

hi there.....already re install everything (read: format my drive), im using window xp proffesional, direct X8.1, catalyst 3.1, and my RAM is actually pc2700..not 2100 like i post before....it got preatty better though, still i only got 9K on 3d mark at 1280x1024 32bit all set to performance, how the hell did tomshardware got around 12K on that thing, he used AGP4x for the test(for the first radeon 9700pro),...i mean..my system is not suppose to be slow...heck , i probably on the Geforce Ti 4400 range now on performance, and that aint cool (the card worth twice). already ordering a 450W power supply hope that helps, if it doesnt,,well, im gonna need that PSU anyway.. any of u guys got some ideas, i dont really want to overclock that thing though..it shouldn't need to be overclocked from my point of view.
and oh yea, to see FPS on unreal 2 press "~" (tilde) for the command thingie to come out,
type: bemymonkey (press enter, this will activate cheat, im a cheater i know!!)
type: Stat FPS (stat (spacebar) Fps) then enter.

I don't think reinstalling everything will change anything. My previous videocard in this setup was a Radeon 8500 using the Catalyst 3.0 drivers. so basically after uninstalling those drivers and installing 3.1 drivers System should ok.

I've already seen people complaining about low fps in certain maps on the unreal2 forum. With faster systems than mine.

This game has only recently been released so i'm not complaining.

well normally the reformatting thing is a last restort and it works for me if and when i have a problem..

well, what res are you running your 3dmark as for me a no overclocked system gives me about 12500 (ish) within xp pro..
higher resoultion will knock the score down i would imagine quite a bit..
im running a kr7a which is only agp 4 and i have only got pc2100 memory in it.. i know my pc is limited to the cpu speed and memory and probably motherboard as well.. i aint so worried, i will just be buying something faster that will make it perform better anyway, so i aint really worried..
