Don't know WTF is up with their accounts payable department but my first
payment was due on Nov.11, payment credited (more than amount due) on Nov.
8. Charged a late fee of $35. Dec. payment due Dec. 11. Payment sent Nov. 30
(again, more than amount due). Today, Dell Financial Services calls and says
my account is past due and that no payment has been received. Gee, that's
odd because the check for December cleared my checking account on the 6th (2
days ago). Person who called was in India (Veronica) and could not
understand what my issue was with this whole discussion. I love the computer
but this is ridiculous.

Maybe they're confused because you have your departments confused...if you
owe THEM money, you should be talking to their accounts receivable
department. Accounts payable would be the department that pays THEIR
vendors.

Good luck.

If my memory serves me correctly, yov need to dispvte this with Dell IN
WRITING to preserve yovr rights. If yov don't have the exact address to
send this dispvte, yov need to call them to find ovt where to send it.
Not doin this will (has) almost certainly resvlted in a black mark on
yovr credit reports. In the dispvte, jvst stick to the facts, don't get
emotional. Companies do make (stvpid) mistakes. Sending a copy of the
cancelled check(s) wovld also be helpfvl (before yov do, look at the
cancellation marks, to see when it was processed). (The credit vnion I
belong to allows yov to view and print copies of yovr cancelled checks
(front and back) on line for no fee.)

Check this site out:

http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/cc/20031111a1.asp

Although this applies to credit card disputes, it also applies to credit
disputes such as companies such as Dell. Even has a sample letter on
the site (which you need to modify for your situation).

Hope this helps -- good luck!!!

of course you can complain here, but it will at best only make you feel
better, but not actually solve anything. have a look at
http://forums.us.dell.com and then look under 'customer service' and then
'dell preferred accounts' (i think that is what they call their lease/credit
division... post the details there and you will get a documented reply...
of course filing a complaint on www.bbb.org might help to light a fire under
them too... good luck.

You seem a little confused here, when one of us owes Dell money, it's in
their Accounts Receivable. Accounts Payable is the system used to pay
their suppliers, not collect money from customers.
