  1. It looks like your best option considering your budget is probably the Samsung 305V5AD 15" notebook $549 @ BestBuy
    AMD A6-3410MX 1.6Ghz Quad-Core APU, 6GB RAM, 640GB HDD 15.6" 1366x768 LCD w/ Radeon HD 6520G IGP and a dedicated Radeon HD 6470 graphics card.
  2. Some other options:
    Toshiba L745D 14" notebook $400 A6-3400M 1.4Ghz APU, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD 14" 1366x768 LCD w/ Radeon HD 6520G IGP.

Quite a few more A6-3400M/Radeon HD 6520G models in the $550+ range too.

To step up the gaming performance you'd need to stretch your budget to cover a $650 Core i5-2430M/Geforce GT 540M laptop.
  3. Thanks; you're a gem.

I'm just wondering: what would be the best laptop for the same budget that has the best CPU performance-wise (other specs don't matter)?
  4. Best performing CPU would be something in the Core i5 Sandy Bridge range like this Acer Aspire AS5755 with it's 2.4Ghz Core i5-2430M (with Turbo to 3.0Ghz)
  5. Here is a 14" model (no dedicated keypad) with the same CPU for a bit less @ BestBuy:
    Acer Aspire AS4752-6838
