Hi, I have Linux red hat installed on my computer, now I want to install windows me as I can't play many of my favourite games.
I boot from the cd-rom however it cannnot format the drive during the installation, I guess because of the linux partitions.

Can anybody help me?

If you want to dual boot, you'll have to use Linux to create unused space on the drive so that Windows can see it and make a partition for it.

Windows Fdisk does have some issues deleting partitions that are non-microsoft partitions.

If you want to delete your linux partitions completely and windows fdisk won't work, you can use Red Hat's utilities.

I'm not sure what kind of installtion utility and formatting tool RedHat uses, but I believe you can boot the RedHat CD-Rom as if you are re-installing. But when it asks you to choose or format the disks for linux, just delete all the partitions and/or convert them to fat32.

I'm not really sure about this with RedHat because I don't use that distrobution. Someone else who uses RedHat might be able to give you a more detailed (and correct) instructions on how to delete your partiton using RedHat's utilites.

Disregard my previous post.

redhat uses diskdruid IIRC. It's pretty simple to see what to do with it. Boot from the cd and just delete everything :)

I used a windows boot disk under the minimum something choice, then i used a dos-based program from western digital from another disk to write zeros to my hdd, it took 4 hours to complete lol, but after that no partitions at all.

I couldn't use the linux boot cd as some guy assembled my computer installing red hat and giving me no cd...:s

Thank you.
