I just bought an OEM card labeled "ATI 9500 PRO 64MB DDR DVI/TV OUT." IS there such a thing or did I get gypped? It cost just a few bucks less than the 128mb Pro version sitting next to it and the salesman said that the 64mb often outperformed the 128mb version so I went with it. I didn't research it before buying the card (impulse buying sucks!) and now that I'm looking around I can't see any 64mb Pro cards. All Pro cards I can see are 128mb. If that's the case, I'd like to return it ASAP and get the 128mb Pro for a few bucks more. Thanks!

It's probably just a badly labled R9500 non pro 64MB. I have not heard of any 64MB R9500 Pros. Also, I don't think it's outperform a 128MB version anyways.

An easy way to tell if you've already got the card installed, run 3D Mark 2K1's fill rate test and you can telll by the results whether it's a R9500 or a R9500 Pro. If the single and multitexturing are the same, it's a R9500. If the multitexturing is ~2000 or more, it's a R9500 Pro.

Or I guess you could also go to the ATi control panel and see if it says R9500 or R9500 pro.. lol

It just says R9500, but I didn't know if it would say Pro for sure or not if it was a pro card. Hmm, well the return date has ended already, but do you think they'd take it back if I argued that they gave false information and that I would buy a 128mb pro card from them?

Well, if you're not sure, use the 3D Mark thing I told ya. If you get ~900 in both singel and multi texturing, go back and ask for at least to exchange for the R9500 Pro 128MB and you can pay the difference. It's false advertising to sell a R9500 non pro as a Pro.. I wouldn't be happy about it.

lol, yup. That's false advertising, and I'd go back and ask for them to exchange it for the Pro, and you can pay the difference. Probably the only thing they'll agree to..

LOL. Went back last night to exchange it. Normally the return policy is 2 days for full refund (includes exchanges), 7 days for refund minus 15%, and nothing after that. I made the guy feel really stupid, though (turned out to be the same sales guy that sold it to me), and he agreed to take it back. Tomorrow they'll get the REAL 9500 Pro cards in and I can get one of those. Thanks guys. :D

Glad to be of help. The guy deserved it. He was falsely advertising (although by the looks of things nowadays, he probably didn't know that the R9500 64MB wasn't Pro..) Yeah, you'll be happier with the R9500 Pro, trust me.
